JD combines work their way through a field of winter wheat Sunday afternoon south of Kennebec. The winter wheat harvest has been in full swing for the past week across Lyman County. Some producers will try cutting spring wheat by the end of the week or beginning of next week. Julie Mews at Dakota Mill & Grain in Presho reports a good winter wheat harvest overall. The numbers have been very good with protein from 12-13 and weighing 60 pounds and above. Yields have been reported from 65-75 bushels per acre. As of Tuesday, Dakota Mill had taken in over 250,000 bushels. Current new crop prices for winter wheat are $4.87 at Presho and spring wheat at $4.97. Todd Longville at Agtegra in Kennebec reported that winter wheat crops are running about the same as Presho. New crop prices in Kennebec for winter wheat are $4.79 and spring wheat is $4.83.
