Funeral services were held Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Lyman High School Gym, Presho, for Lindy Marie Patrick, 19, who died Thursday, March 3, 2005 near Vivian as a result of an automobile accident. Visitation and a rosary were held Sunday evening at Christ the King Catholic Church, Presho with Father Edward Varney. Burial was at the Vivian Cemetery, Vivian, SD.

Chester Alva Dunlap, 92

Chester Alva Dunlap 92 passed away March 3 in Hallmar Care Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There will be no visitation or services, internment in the Springville cemetery will be at a later date.

Outdoor exhibits at the annual Presho Area Chambers Farm and Home Show were popular Saturday afternoon as the temperature soared into the 60s. The loading shoot from Morris Hinman Welding of Carter, SD drew the attention of ranchers and future ranchers during the Farm and Home Show. Youngsters lined up on the cat walk include; l-r: unidentified, Sage Mowry, Ellis Hope, and Nash Hutmacher.

[b]Amateur basketball players, fans converge on Presho[/b]

Basketball players and fans from around the state will gather in Presho Saturday and Sunday for the 58th annual South Dakota Amateur Basketball Tournament. Local sponsors include the Presho Area Chamber and the Medicine Creek Lions Club.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults per session and $3 for students. The gym will be cleared between sessions.

[b]Juniors chosen for Boys', Girls' State[/b]

The American Legion Posts and Legion Auxiliaries in Lyman County have chosen six juniors as delegates to Boys and Girls State.
The Webster/Larson Post # 157 of Vivian has selected Ashley Uthe and Eric Halverson. The Presho Butrick Legion and Auxiliary Post # 89 have chosen Alicia Brakke and Jake Jessop. Nicholas Headley and Ashley Vernon have been chosen as delegates by the Johnson/Peterson Post # 179 of Kennebec and Reliance.

Boys State will take place from May 30 to June 4 at Aberdeen on the Northern State University campus. Girls State will be on the University of South Dakota campus in Vermillion on the same date.
