Gilbert Cleveland, 71, died Thursday, April 22, 2004 at his home in Presho. Funeral services were held Monday, April 26, 2004 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho with burial was at Holy Angel Cemetery.

Gilbert Ernest Cleveland was born November 8, 1932 in Presho, SD to Elmer and Caroline (Dreier) Cleveland. Gilbert was one of Ida Mallett's "babies." He was the oldest of six children.

He graduated from Presho Schools. After graduation he joined the army and served as a tank gunner in the Korean War.

Upon returning from the service, he and Bev Cox were united in marriage on August 6, 1956. To this union, four children were born.

He and his father farmed in the Presho area. He has been farming and ranching with Rod and Ronnie ever since.

He was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. Gilbert and his wife Bev enjoyed traveling to Branson, Las Vegas, and Decatur IL to visit their son Jim and his family.

He is survived by his wife Bev of Presho, sons: Jim and Joy and their son Tynon of Decatur IL; Rod and sons: Haydon and Bristol of Presho; Ronnie and Kris and their children: Coral, Wynn, and Declan of Presho; daughter Janelle and Rob Parker and their children: Derrick, Sheldon, Shelby, and Brooke of Mitchell; brother Lawrance (Rita) of Kennewick, WA; sisters Carol (Paul) Larson of Riverton WY; Mildred Jenks of Thousand Oaks CA; and LaVonne (Everett) Cassidy of Kemmerer WY; his mother-in-law Esther Cox of Presho; brother-in-law Duane (Karyn) Cox of Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry and sister-in-law Eileen Cleveland, and sister-in-law Helen (Cox) Hall.
