Sept. 11th to be observed Sunday
Posted by Lucy
“Terrorism strikes the United States” was the headline across the top of the September 12, 2001 issue of the Lyman County Herald.
When the Herald hit the newsstand that Wednesday morning following the terrorists attacks, people were reeling in disbelief at what had happened in New York City, Washington, DC and a field in Pennsylvania where thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives at the hands of terrorists.
One decade after one of the worst attacks ever on America’s homeland, a public ceremony featuring music, comment, and prayer will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at the Lyman Veterans Memorial on the grounds of the Historical Society Museum to remember and honor those who lost their lives n the terrorism attacks ten years ago.
All are invited to attend, reflect and remember. Beverages will be served following the program. Organizers welcome contributions of cookies or bars to share.
