Lyman County Commissioners voted to recognize Lyman County native Roland Dolly for his public service to the citizens of the state and county by naming the newly constructed recreational trail at Oacoma, the Roland Dolly Memorial Trail. The trail runs adjacent to the George Mickelson Memorial Highway that goes from Highway 248 north to the Cedar Shore Resort. Both men were killed in an airplane crash while on a state trip to Iowa in 1993. A formal dedication for the trail is planned for a later date.
The completion date for the trail is October 15, 2009. Major funding for the $310,000 project came from a Department of Transportation grant in the amount of $109,000.
In other matters before the commission, the board reviewed an action taken at the last meeting on August 4 and rescinded a motion to delay the implementation of a liquor license transfer.
The transfer involved an off-sale liquor and an on/off malt beverage license that was held by Tuffy’s Bar & Grill. Following a discussion with States Attorney Anita Fuoss, and based on her advice, the motion was rescinded. The transfer to Cals stands approved by the commission.
