Holiday Open House set for Dec. 3
By Lucy Halverson
Lyman County Herald
The Presho Chamber’s Hometown Holiday Open House and Parade of Lights has been held annually in Presho on the first Thursday after Thanksgiving for the past eight years.
This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of all business places in Presho. “Up Town, Down Town, All Around Our Town” is expected to bring a large number of people to town to enjoy the community’s holiday season kick off.
The parade of lights will start at 7:07 pm from the Zion Lutheran Church parking lot on Main Street. Everyone is encouraged to create a float and join in the parade. There is no registration or fee required, entrants should be lined up and ready to go by 7:07 pm. The parade will travel north to the end of Main Street.
Many Presho businesses will hold open houses from 4 pm to 7 pm featuring holiday shopping specials, refreshments and door prizes. See the list of participating businesses on page 7.
Following Thursday night’s event, the Chamber will collect all the door prize sign ups from the business places and draw for three grand prizes.
Tim and Peg Boysen will be in town giving hay rides with their horse drawn wagon.
In addition, Lyman School has donated the use of a school bus, which will offer transportation from Main Street to participating businesses located on the hill, including Hutch’s, Farm Bureau Insurance, The General Store, Prairie Post, and The Remedy Shoppe Pharmacy & Coffee House. A number of businesses will have booths at the Presho fire hall.
Santa will be at the fire hall from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm and then he’ll lead the parade of lights.
The Merchant’s Park, located next to the Lyman Fitness Center decorated by Bev Johnson and several high school youth group members will be aglow Thursday evening.
Make plans to attend Presho’s annual Holiday Open House, “Up Town, Down Town, All around Our Town!”
