Consider an end of the year donation
Thanks to a recent $2,500 donation by Arvid and Arlene Ambur. of Presho,  Greater Lyman Foundation has raised its total unrestricted donations to $130,917.42.

According to GLF Chairman Herb Sundall, this is the second significant donation by the Amburs, as they made a similar donation last year.

“The Amburs understand the potential positive impact on the Lyman community that GLF has, and they have been very generous in showing their support. We are very appreciative of their continued support,” said Sundall.

Other recent donations have been made by Ronald and Ruth McManus, Wayne and Dorothy Monson, James and Carol Sundall, Randal Holmquist, Herb and Deanna Sundall. Memorials were given in memory of Burke Severyn, Diane Hrabe, Carrol Stewart, Ruth Holan, Virginia Wolcott, Mary Halverson, Ardean Schoenhard, Selma Bunker, Arla Schooler Hieb and Emma Michalek.

Sundall reminds locals that it is not too late to make a year end donation of grain or a direct gift from an IRA. Both offer tax advantages for the donor. With the abundant grain harvest it may be the opportune time for a gift in kind of grain to GLF, and the GLF can sell the grain. Such allows the donor to avoid having to pay income tax on the grain. Similar gifts made directly to GLF from one’s IRA or similar account can avoid the donor having to pay income tax on the receipt of a distribution.

Sundall suggests people contact their tax advisor or GLF directors for more information in this regard.
