The Presho Centennial Committee held a meeting Tuesday January 6 at the Catholic Church Hall in preparation for Presho’s Centennial July 2,3, & 4, 2005
It was voted and approved to purchase t-shirts, sweatshirts, and caps with the centennial logo from the Lyman County Herald to sell at the Presho Farm and Home show February 28. Rod Bowar of Kennebec Telephone offered to finance the merchandise purchase.
The committee will have a booth at the Farm and Home Show to promote the centennial. In addition to the merchandise for sale the committee will also have on display the centennial quilt, designed and hand made by the local quilting club, which will be raffled. A centennial cookbook is being planned and the committee will be accepting recipes at the Farm and Home Show booth. The committee encourages anyone with a connection to Presho to submit a recipe for publication. Watch for recipe drop boxes at Presho businesses or mail them to them the Centennial Committee in care of the Presho Area Chamber, PO Box 415, Presho, SD 57568. The committee needs your contributions to produce this centennial keepsake.
A Centennial Club will be established for those donating $500 or more. A limited edition Presho Centennial Jacket will given to members of the club. The committee set a fundraising goal of $40,000.
The committee voted to rent a 60 by 90 foot tent from Martin Biegler of Timberlake for the 3-day event. The tent will be erected in the city park and will host many of the centennial’s events.
The tentative centennial schedule was discussed. The committee will meet February 3rd at 7 pm at the Presho Area Chamber Community Room.
