Carroll Edward Stambaugh, 70
Carroll Edward Stambaugh, 70 of Damascus, passed away on December 31, 2003. Mr.Stambaugh was born on July 19, 1933, in Oacoma, SD, and he was a son of the late Glen Stambaugh and Mable Elizabeth Hade Stambaugh. In 1936 they moved to Brule County south of Chamberlain. He attended 8 years at the rural Glissman School and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1952. In 1954 he married Willie Joyce Reed of Conway, Arkansas. Mr. Stambaugh was an United States Navy veteran. He retired after 26 years of service.
He was a member of South Side Baptist Church, lifetime member of the Fleet Reserve Association and an active member of AA since 1974. He enjoyed boating, fishing, cars, traveling, reading, computers and the study of genealogy.
A brother, Gerald Stambaugh, preceded Mr. Stambaugh in death.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Willie Joyce Stambaugh of Damascus; a daughter, Beth Angier of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Michael Stambaugh of Brighton, Tenn.; and Alfred Glen Stambaugh of Damascus; grandchildren Johnny Angier, Blake Angier, Michael Scot Stambaugh Jr., Jamie Stambaugh, Justin Stambaugh, Alfred Glen Stambaugh Jr, Brett Barr, Jeffery Todd Hutchins, great-grand-children Ashton Angier, Devon Barr, Madison Barr, Chelsie Walton and India Walton; a brother E. Dwain Stambaugh of Las Cruses, NM; a sister, Doris Hills of Kennebec, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
There was a gathering of remembrance held at 2pm Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the South Side Baptist Church in Damascus with Steve Stephens and Kirk Hardy officiating. Burial followed at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Wooster.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8pm on Friday January 2, 2004 at Griffin Leggett- Conway.
