PIERRE, S.D. - District 26 Representative Kent Juhnke (R) of Vivian recently announced his intentions not to seek another term in the South Dakota House of Representatives.
Juhnke still has one term left before being term limited, but at this time he has elected to step aside for a term. "I have always supported term limits, so I feel to be fair I will sit out a term," stated Juhnke.
"It is impossible to describe what an honorable experience this has been, not to mention what a phenomenal opportunity to meet and serve the people of District 26." Juhnke has full intentions of returning to public office to serve the people in District 26 again. He just hopes that this opportunity will give other potential candidates the chance to get out there and meet the voters.
South Dakota Republican Party Chairman Randy Fredrick said, "Representative Juhnke has done an exceptional job serving the people of District 26. He has always assessed each situation with fairness and considered each side prior to voting. His presence during this next session will be greatly missed and we hope his absence is short lived." Juhnke has served in the State House for six years.
