Organized by the Presho Area Chamber, packages are presented to new residents of Presho. The packages contain coupons from area businesses; novelty items such as caps, calendars, and mini screwdrivers; and a listing of local services such as the number to the Fire Department and local church services.
News travels fast in a small town, and word of mouth tells the Welcome Wagon of many new arrivals, but Kennebec Telephone also provides the chamber office a list of people who have recently asked for new phone service.
Lois and Bette have been welcoming new residents for a few years now, and before that Lucile Blocker spent years greeting people to the area.
New residents visited by the welcome wagon in the past few months were Ada Fedderson, Crystal Brakke, Harold and Jean Ann Brakke, Dennis Stanley, Ida Smith, Tyler Langdeau, Amanda Langdeau and Lance Comp, and Lindsay Penny.
Renee Shumpert and her son moved to Presho in May of 2003 and were welcomed by Lois and Bette shortly after their arrival. " I love it, it is just wonderful how you welcome people to town. It makes you feel at home and not like an outsider. It gives you a very warm feeling, " she commented.
