Paul Olson, of Presho, enlisted in the army on December 20, 1944. He reported to Ft. Snelling, Minnesota. He was still in basic training when the war in Europe ended. He was then placed on a ship, headed to the Pacific. Olson said he was in the middle of the ocean when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, resulting in the end of WWII.
