Word was recently received that on June 21, 2020 Richard Murphy of Rapid City, SD, had passed away after several years of battling cancer. Richard was married to Karen McBrayer daughter of Monna and Jack McBrayer former residents of Lyman County.
They both graduated from Watertown High School and both attended BHSU. They were married April 26, 1980 in Watertown and raised a family of three children. They moved to Rapid City in 1996.
Richard was an amazing husband and father. He never missed any of the kids sporting events. Over the years Rich coached multiple teams in variety of sports and touched the lives of those he coached as well as the parents of the athlete’s he coached.
Richard was an avid golfer. His passion led him to become the Assistant Golf Coach for Stevens High School in Rapid City. Richard had worked for the Pepsi Co. for 22 years in Rapid City.
His family, all his many friends will miss him dearly.
