Reseeding saline affected areas

The recent wet year may have increased the size and number of saline areas in the landscape. It is not uncommon to notice more saline seeps after a year of heavier precipitation followed by a year or so of dry weather.

Local fire departments educate students during Fire Safety Week

Fire Departments from across Lyman County were at the Kennebec Fire Hall in honor of Fire Prevention week. Lyman elementary students learned about fire safety and what firemen do and when they respond to a fire. Hunting on Public Road Rights-of-Ways

The traditional pheasant season opens October 17th. We have new shooting hours this year! This year pheasant season shooting hours start at 10AM for the entire season until sunset. Our pheasant hunting season is also extended to January 31st, 2021. Many hunters across the state hunt private and public lands. But some hunters also choose to hunt the road rights-of-way for small game. How well do you know the laws associated with hunting the road rightsof-way?

Restless Raiders dominate

After a week off from all activities, the Lyman Raider football team was restless and ready to play again. They restarted their season with an away game against the New Underwood Tigers on Friday, October 9th.

This year’s Homecoming queen and all-around humble and happy-go-lucky girl, Drew Lulf lives in Reliance with her parents Dale and Sherry Lulf and has three siblings named Bailey, Quinn, and Royal. Over the years, Drew has participated in volleyball, golf, Student Council, choir, and band.

Raiders resume play

After a week on online school, the Raider volleyball team went on the road to play Kadoka on Tuesday, October 6. They played three sets with scores of 14-25, 13-25, and 7-25, Drew Lulf had 3 kills, 7 assists, and 4 blocks. Aaliyah Jones had 3 kills, Haleigh Elwood had 7 assists, and Ellie Erikson was lead server with 2 aces. Skyler Volmer had 4 digs, and Tanna Wells made 1 block.

Cross country competes at Gettysburg

The cross country runners ran in the Conference meet at Gettysburg on October 7. Varsity girls got 4th as a team with Alyssa Jones placing 14th, Telenna McBride-Wingert 16th, Inez McBride-Wingert 27th, and Nyanna Jones 32nd. Varsity boys placed as follows: Mason Ryan 46th, Aiden Grassrope 53rd, and Ash Grassrope 54th. For the JV boys, Memphis Choal came in 16th.

Class cooks with rice

Students in Ms. Mohr’s Life Management class learned to make cookies with rice as a means of being resourceful when funds are low. Drew Lulf and Selena Grassrope mix up their batter, place the dough on pans, and await the aroma of fresh cookies wafting through the air.
