Chance Veurink, 33

Chance Veurink, 33, of Vivian, SD, died on Thursday, April 25, 2024, as the result of an accident. Visitation was held on Monday, April 29, 2024 with a Celebration of Life and Time of Sharing at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre, SD. Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at New Life Church in Pierre. Interment took place on Tuesday at the Vivian Cemetery.

Born on September 27, 1990, Chance was a beacon of light and laughter in the lives of all who knew him. Chance grew up in New Holland and Platte, where he attended Dakota Christian School. Chance worked as a utilities locator for Summit.

In his personal life, Chance was a devoted husband to his wife, Angela (Hertel) Veurink, and a loving father to his children, Jackson Chmela, Emma Williams, Christina Williams, and Patrick Williams. He embraced the joys and challenges of fatherhood with open arms, and his children will carry forward the lessons of compassion and laughter he instilled in them.

Chance was a fan of baseball and football, with a particular fondness for the New England Patriots.

Chance also enjoyed fishing. Those who knew Chance will remember his remarkable sense of humor and his spirit of generosity. His generosity extended beyond his immediate circle. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether it was through his work, his community, or simply as a friend. Chance’s presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, children, extended family and friends. His laughter and generosity will never be forgotten.

Along with his wife and children, Chance is also survived by his dad David (Marcia) Veurink, sister Ceslie Veurink, maternal aunts and uncles Gary and Carol Van Zee and Glen and Becky Van Zee, brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael and Heidi Lambert and Katie Hertel (Brian) as well as numerous others, nieces and nephews: Aubrey, Kayli, Cayden, Mary and Mia, his mother and father-in-law Rose and Lyle Hertel, paternal aunts and uncles: Melvin and Patty Veurink, Wayne and Paulette Veurink, Ed and Joyce Dileman, Arlet Veurink, and Lyn and Mary Jo Veurink, as well as numerous cousins.

Chance was preceded in death by his mother Wanda Veurink, grandparents: Sylvan and Ramona Van Zee and Herman and Wilhelmina Veurink.
